Brazilian-Polish, the artist lives and works in São Paulo (b. 1993, São Paulo, SP). She graduated in Industrial Design with a focus on Graphic Design from Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP) in 2015, and with a postgraduate diploma in Visual Arts from Chelsea School of Arts in London (Chelsea UAL, London) in 2018.
Julia Angulo's research investigates memory, based on her experience with dyslexia, which often hinders certain processes of recall. Amidst chaotic, accumulated thoughts, there is a search to express memories based on the relationship between remembering and forgetting that culminates in a main objective of documenting the path taken by the mind. Thus, the works are often the result of small, random triggers derived from the unconscious, formed by the relationship with the world. In this search for understanding, psychology offers a great understanding of the unconscious and provides a basis for its work.
